Annie joining the Specht Lab in May 2016 as a researcher with the SMART program (http://smart.berkeley.edu/) forming Student Mentoring and Research Teams.  Annie is teamed up with Graduate Student Riva Bruenn in the quest to understand the genetic mechanisms underlying the evolution of floral symmetry in the Zingiberales.  Annie is focusing her efforts on DRIFs, genes that code for 'factors' that interact with Rad and Div, two proteins known to be involved in the development and patterning of symmetry across a flower.  Annie is a dual major in Genetics and Plant Biology and Integrative Biology.
