Eduardo was a UC MEXUS postdoctoral fellow from 2010-2011.  An expert in systematics and biogeography of mexican plants, in particular the woody bamboos, Lalo developed a collaboratove project investigating the phylogeography of the Mexican endemic shrub Nolina parviflora. As part of this work, he focused on the role of the Transmexican Volcanic Belt on geographical patterns of genetic variation.  His postdoctoral research was recently accepted for publication in the Journal of Biogeography.

 
Dr. Ruiz-Sanchez is currently a researcher (Investigador Titular A)  in Plant Systematics and Biodiversity at the Instituto de Ecologia (INECOL) Patzcuaro, Michoacan.
