MONOCOTSV: Almeida wins Arber award

Ana Almeida took home the Agnes Arber award for best student presentation, based on her presentation on floral developmental evolution in the Zingiberales, focusing on petaloidy and polarity.  Thiago Andre and Shayla Salzman attended as well, presenting their work on Costaceae.  Thi gave a presentation summarizing his recent work on population genetics of Chamaecostus subsessilis, and Shayla presented a poster on Costus phylogeny.  Former UC MEXUS postdoc Eduardo Ruiz Sanchez also presented his work on the population biology of Nolina parviflora.
